To 1929 ήταν η χρονιά που ο Ποπάυ έκανε το ντεμπούτο του στα κόμικς και ο Ernest Miller Hemingway δημοσίευσε το μυθιστόρημα-ορόσημο «A Farewell to Arms». Όμως τα πνευματικά δικαιώματα αυτών των έργων δεν ήταν δημόσια μέχρι πολύ πρόσφατα.

Από την 1η Ιανουαρίου 2025, ένα ευρύ φάσμα έργων του 1929 έχουν περιέλθει επισήμως στο δημόσιο τομέα. Τα πνευματικά δικαιώματα για τα περισσότερα δημιουργικά έργα διαρκούν 95 χρόνια, ενώ ορισμένα διαρκούν λιγότερο, και άλλα εκτείνονται μέχρι τα 100 χρόνια, όπως αυτά πολλών ηχογραφήσεων.
